I am researching Younacha (maiden name UNK).
She was born in North Carolina in ABT. 1793. She is only found in an 1850 Census in Cocke County, TN and briefly mentioned in the Big Pidgeon Primitive Baptist Church minutes in the 1830s. She married Laxton Case about 1813.
I have yet to find any more information on her. I have concluded that she passed away before the 1860 Census because I found Laxton in another household without her.
These are her children. Some dates are approximate as I am still researching this line.
John C Case 1814 –
James Laxton Case 1815 – 1888
William Case 1816 –
Jacob Case 1817 – 1882
Eleander Case 1818 –
Margaret “Peggy” Case 1822 – 1880
Obedience “Biddy” Case 1823 –
Nancy Case 1827 –
Henry Case 1830 –
Charles Case 1832 – 1893
Jesse Case 1835 – 1900
As with most, I have been told she was Cherokee. If anyone can help me find her maiden name to prove or disprove Cherokee heritage, I would greatly appreciate it.
Thank you!

I believe James Laxton Case (1815 – 1888) was my great, great, great grandfather and Unaka Younacha would have been my ggg grandmother — in my maternal line.
I am very interested in any information you may have on her, her story, and her family. Do you have a source for her marriage to James Laxton Case?
If you can respond, can you email to

I also believe I have another Cherokee ancestor from my paternal line. My ggggg grandfather was William Gulledge (1730 – 1815.) He married Bersheba Watts (abt 1740 – 1797) — she was supposedly the daughter of Trader John Watts and Gi Yo Sti Ko He of the bird clan. Gi Yo Sti Ko He had parents Tarchee The Long Warrior of the Tellico Bird Clan (abt 1720-?) and Ailsey of the Paint Clan (abt 1710-1795.) Any suggestions about how I can learn more about these family connections?
