Rosella was born in Kentucky about 1867 and died in 1904. She and her husband were living in Kentucky in 1900.

Her parents were Jacob Meadows and Sarah Ann Booth. She is found with her parents living in Butler, Ohio, in 1880. These families moved to Oklahoma just sometime after 1900. They were not listed on the Dawes Rolls and they have no application on file with the National Archives. They are found listed on the standard White schedule census records. This means they did not get Indian land allotments, and they were not recognized as Cherokee Nation tribal members at that time. Bear in mind, this was a time period when the territory was being flooded by White settlers. Indians were a small percentage of the overall population by the late 1800s. This was one of the last large-scale land rushes in the contiguous United States.

Rosella’s father, Jacob Meadows, was born in 1846, also in Kentucky. He was the son of William Harrison Meadows and Catherine Townsend, both born in 1818. Jacob shows up with his mother in the 1850, 1860 Census records. He then shows up in a marriage certificate in 1867. He married Sarah Ann Booth in Powell, Kentucky.

Here are William Harrison Meadows and Catherine Townsend’s graves:

Rosella’s mother was Sarah Ann Booth (Boothe). She was born in Kentucky about 1850. Her parents were William Boothe and Sarah Sturgill, both born in Virginia (abt 1787 and 1812, respectively).

    Marriage Cert (VA):

    Name: William Booth
    Gender: Male
    Spouse Name: Sally Sturgell
    Spouse Gender: Female
    Marriage Date: 4 Aug 1830
    County: Lee
    State: Virginia

There is no indication that these particularly families were affiliated with the Cherokee, but you’d have to take it back further to confirm. Hope this helps.
