Vaughn

April 19, 2017 by tannerjahe 2 Comments

Looking for information on the Vaughn family from Hawkins & Hancock counties. Same old story how grandmas family came out of the Cherokee nation. Be carful with the spelling. If you add the letter (A) behind the h you will get a whole different line from same area.

Your names look familiar. Are any from West Virginia, Virginia, Maryland? I have found two mixed Indian ancestors with surnames Glass in Virginia & Redman from Ohio who moved to WVa.

My grandmother’s maiden name was Vaughn and her family was from Hancock county in Tennessee. I’ve been told we have Cherokee in the family but I don’t know exactly how much but I do know it goes back at least five generations before her maybe more. Her mother’s name was Minnie Myrtle Johnson Vaughn.
