Keziah Elizabeth Brooks Williams

June 18, 2020 by czdday1 4 Comments

My 6th GGrandmother is Keziah Elizabeth Brooks (1735-1785), dau. of Littleton Brooks & Elizabeth Wallings. She was married to James Williams. I see many references to her in genealogy sites as half Cherokee and called Princess Floating Cloud. Her son, James Sheridan Sherod Williams, has been verified as a DNA match for me. I’m trying to find out if this information about Keziah’s heritage is true. Thanks!

      Hi!

I am very grateful to find this site. From my DNA Phillip “Buck Spike” Williams is my 5th Great Grandfather & she was his mother. He is buried in Old Indian Cemetery with his wife, Anne Vest, in Volga, Kentucky.

So it makes her my 6th Great Grandmother.

Ive read interviews with relatives who had recalled speaking with Phillip, that said a French Fur trader & Cherokee woman were her parents.

I find this more plausible than the Sam Littleton, just like some accounts try to make her husband the James Williams who fought the Cherokee- which makes no sense. While the Welsh James Williams does make sense- I have Welsh DNA from that that line in the family.

I am grateful to meet you all. My daughter is a tribal member of the Tolowa Tribe though she is also Hoopa & Yurok – her father was born on the reservation called Rancherias here in California & I’m trying to learn my family line to be able to have for her. I was taken away from my parents & raised by my grandfather so didn’t learn about my family at all.

      Thank you.

      🙏

Phillip “Buck Spike” Williams is my 5th Great Grandfather also. I’ve had my DNA tested thru Ancestry. I’m curious if you are one of these names they sent me of possible cousins.
