According to family lore, my great great grandmother on my father’s side was understood to be of Cherokee descent through his mother’s side. Myrtle Sue Barker (married name Myrtle Sue Rain) was born around 1909 or 1910 in Virginia. She passed away in July 1942 and is buried in the Irwin Union Cemetery in Irwin, Pennsylvania. Any leads on her maternal family history connecting to a great grandmother who was part of the Cherokee tribe in the Virginia, Pa, West Virginia pr Maryland region is deeply appreciated.
