Chief BlackFox

April 19, 2025 by interestedparty Leave a Comment

So I came across a supposed 5th great grandmother whose father was allegedly Chief Blackfox 1766-1811. I fiddled around with it most the day trying to distinguish between the two Blackfox chiefs with the same.death year but a 20 year birth gap. Either way I had a very difficult time pinning the grandmother directly to him outside of what ancestry provided.

The name is Lucy “Linny” Ostern born 1785-1850 married a Stephan Thomas Williams Sr.

I’ve had several things come up that Blackfox 1746 was married to 4 different women and that has made connecting the right names rather difficult. One being that Elsie or Elcie Buckskin (a wife) was from Slovakia and one saying she was from a Cherokee tribe in Georgia.

Anyways. I also read on this very website about a nother Lucy that had been ficticiously either made up or the lineage falsified in order for a family to.try and claim Cherokee heritage. While the last names aren’t the same it has me.concerned this is more of the same and figured I would make a posting of my own.
