November 7, 2014 by tomwalls 1 Comment

Seeking racially mixed families who settled in Benton Co, Ar and McDonald Co, MO in the 1840s. Particularly those who may have ties to the Catawba Nation.

Tom I have some Lattys (or Lattas) in my line who fit that place and time (McDonald County MO before 1860. From what I can tell my direct descendants left McDonald Co. for Indian Territory sometime between 1866 and 1900. My 3rd Great grandfather, James Latty married Vilsie Baker in McDonald Co in 1866. That is the last record I have of him up until his tombstone found here near Tahlequah where he died in 1892. His family, including his mother Susan Latty Tyner, are found in the 1900 census living in the Welling, OK area. I would be happy to work with you on any research surrounding the Latty family. I have some mysteries of my own regarding James to solve. Contact me at brian-wagnon@cherokee.org
