I am looking for information on my ancestor William Blythe, born in Bertie NC about 1740. He had more than one wife, one was Sarah Murphree. He had a ferry, and fought in the Cherokee contingent under Captain John Brown in Louisiana. Some sources say he went west on the Trail of Tears, others say he died in South Carolina about 1837. I am descended from his daughter Polly (Mary). Any information would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
