Who was Emma Vincent?

August 5, 2015 by Shelia Leave a Comment

I was always told that my great grandmother was full blood Cherokee. They said that she was taken in by a white family named Johnson there around Limestone County, Alabama. She married Benjamin Howard Vincent. Her name was spelled e ma I. It was pronounced a ma e in Cherokee. I have found two birthdates. I don’t know which is correct. They are Sept 1865 and Sept 1871. She later died in Nashville, TN in May of 1949. Can anyone out help me out with this mystery?
