SMITH’S Pennington Gap, VA

Any relatives of Caner Patton Smith (born 1882) and Mattie Molly Burke (born 1899): Had large family: Claud, Walter, Fred, Roy, Sarah, Tildia, June, Vernon, Jenny, & Margaret. Family lived in Pennington Gap, later moved to Harlan, KY and some to Kingsport, TN. Eventually, later family members moved to OHIO and ILLINOIS. Looking for any relatives of this family.

Caner’s Parents: Patton W Smith and Clarinda Bowman
Patton W. Smith’s parents: Elkanah Smith and Jane Thomas. Cherokee descent.

Mattie’s Parents: Clerinda Woodard father UNK, Mattie was nearly full blooded Cherokee and her father was considered to be part Lakota who had come to the area.
