Seeking relations of Betsy Cannon, Oklahoma with Osage

April 11, 2015 by msurrealist Leave a Comment

My family history links twice to the Cherokee nation- once early on in the 1700’s to a woman named Betsy Cannon and next in Oklahoma once these relations were ‘relocated’. My grandfather George Vernon was born in Prescott AZ and had Cherokee and Osage parents/grandparents.(1/4 Cherokee) I am seeking those links in Virginia, North Carolina, and Oklahoma which may go back as far as Revolution times, pre-Civil War. I have the name “Betsy Cannon” as a genealogical link on family tree listed as “A Cherokee.” No more is known. Will appreciate filling in those missing pieces between then, Relocation, and Oklahoma resettlement.
