Looking for parents of my grandfather who was half Cherokee. Father name Wash Payne, mother maiden name Reasonover. Andy was born Sept 5, 1900 and lived in Milam County TX and Tarrant County TX (Ft Worth). Died 1938 in Fort Worth.
Not sure which parent was Cherokee or where they were from. Any help appreciated
Wash Payne’s parents were: Andrew Thomas William Payne (1831–1880) and Mary Powell (1833–1860) Julia Reasonover’s (wife of Wash) parents were: John Beatty Reasonover (1827–1880) and Mary Ann Evans (1822–1872).
Glancing a few gens back rom these individuals, there is no indication of Cherokee affiliation. If it’s a more remote ancestral connection, you’d have to specify exact lineage. Otherwise, these folks appear to be standard European-American (grandfather most certainly wouldn’t be 1/2 blood degree).
