Nervey Roark the mother of my great great grandfather Findley Roark lived with him and his wife Polly Smith Roark in Clay County Kentucky in 1830s. I believe she may have have been Cherokee as I was told by family that my great great grandmother Polly Smith Roark was Cherokee but it appears she was not. I cannot find anything about her other than she lived with them in the census.

James Finley/Findley Roark, married to Polly Smith and father of Minerva, was born in 1873 to Lucinda Collett and John Roark. Perhaps Lucinda’s middle name was Minerva or that was a nickname. If so, she could have gone by “Nervey.” However, she appears in earlier records also as Lucy. She was born in 1858, in Kentucky. Her parents were William Collett (1825–1860) and Elizabeth Jones (1832–1856).
