Natives of Goinstown

January 4, 2016 by burt3deb 1 Comment

I am trying to find info on the tribe of natives from the Goinstown area in North Carolina. I’ve always been told Cherokee and have found some 1950’s newspaper articles that say Cherokee. The people of this community was so closed mouth. They did not claim Indian. The names in this area was Hickman or Rickmam, Goins or Goings, Harris, Richardson, and Kimmons. They were all intermarried with all these names, some first cousin were married. They also lived in Stokes County. There are some that moved in several different directions so they could pass as white only. Thanks, Debra

    Hi Debra,
I know this post older but I am looking for the same thing as well. Have you found anything out yet? I would love to share/exchange info on this subject with you.
