Native lineage

My mother side is to if said cherokee native American lineage but its still hard to find out when i get someone else past to not of our life past. My mother side is crummett and the miller surname last name. My father side is England but with alaskan native lineage too. Im melissa ann shepherd and my mother maiden name is barbara ann crummett, father name is donald lee shepherd. I was born in Virginia and my mother but not my father he was born in district of Columbia. I would like to register myself and my children to our people. I would like paper trial in the mail as my lineage proof for my family to see they are who they are. Im lost without my native American lineage.
