Martha was an orphan, raised by missionaries who renamed her Martha Witing (originally called Nellie). She was the daughter of SU-NA-GO-YA TLA-SI-NI and KA-DA-NA, and was born about 1836. Martha married before 1860 as the 3rd wife of Charles TICKANEESKY, aka Charles Catchem, grandson of Catherine Downing. On the 1851 Drennen roll, card #605, Martha’s listed as age 21, orphan, and on the same card with Nancy Holmes.
