Margaret Ann “Peggy” Stephens

October 29, 2018 by foster.adrienne0515 1 Comment

I’m looking for information on my great-great grandmother Margaret Ann “Peggy” Stephens (1837-1909) born in Whitley County, Kentucky. Died in 1909, Luray, KS. I know she is native as I have a picture of one of her daughters, Margaret (Foster) Curll, (who is very much so native or mulatto). I’m struggling locating any specifics on her tribe or birth parents. She married a first husband with the last name “Lamb” for a short period of time. Unsure why. Then married my ggg- grandfather John Foster born 1830 in Kentucky also.

My paternal side was Foster out of Kentucky. I have been told at some point surname was changed from Forrester. Not sure if true as I have been unable to follow back that far myself. My family needed up in Kanawha and Boone counties.
