Most of the family moved from North Carolina to Tennessee and settled in the Cumberland Mountains, Heppesburg TN ( at that time known as Yellow Creek)

Keziah Hayes (Norris) is my great great great grandmother. I have photo’s and address of her burial sight and tent stone. And other records but little on her Cherokee family . I recently learned from other’s research that she was born in what is now Swain County North Carolina in 1791. She was born Dec. 15 1791 daughter of John Hayes born 1770 NC and Rachel Mitchell Hayes born 1770 NC . She is buried in Westfelt Cemetery Fentress County Tennessee. She married Thomas Norris Dec. 25, 1793 Ashe NC. My maternal grandmother is a Norris, the source of this information came from a Norris decendant and also was noted on Bruce York’s Fentress County web site. I am only now beginning to research the Hayes family.
