My great-great or great-great-great grandmother is rumored to be a Cherokee but I am not sure. She is from south Arkansas somewhere around the Grant County/Sheridan/Grapevine area and married an Arthur L. Womble. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Her family lines are extremely well-traced. You can start with her find-a-grave page, and click back on many different lines. Some go back quite a ways. Ancestors fought in various wars (French and Indian War, Revolution, War of 1812), received land grants in areas that had been ceded by tribes, and some owned African slaves.
