Great Grandfather

September 26, 2015 by bradlee85 1 Comment

I have recently found out that my Great Grandfather was 100% Cherokee and he and his parents lived on a Reservation in Texas at the time of his birth in 1904.

His name is Richard Marion Lee and he was born 2/24/1904 and he died on 1/23/1992.

There was no reservation in Texas, and there would have been just a few mixed blood families in Rusk County, and a smattering of heavy blooded Cherokees moving about for job opportunities in the entire state at that time period.

He was the son of Henry Lee and Eva Hale. He can be found living with his parents on the 1920 Census, in Chaves, New Mexico. They are all listed as White and they were not enumerated with the Cherokee Nation.
