My paternal grandmother, Elizabeth Marie Bandy Sloan, always told me that she had Cherokee relatives in her family, but she didn’t know any details. She spent much of her life in LeFlore County, Oklahoma. She met my Dad’s dad one afternoon at a church service in Poteau in 1942, the rest is history, and here I am today, as one of her grandchildren, out on the west coast. I wonder: if I do some digging and report some full names and dates of birth to your staff, perhaps someone might be able to assist me?
