Cherokee GGGGreat-Grandmother

January 15, 2018 by gaybaby1 1 Comment

During the Trail of Tears, my GGGGreat-Grandfather found a young Cherokee Maiden, who was very ill. The Cherokees left her with him, hoping he could get medical help for her. My GGGGreat-Grandfather nursed her back to health and married her. I would love to know her name and maybe have a photo of her. Our Oakley lineage stops at my GGGreats. However, I believe my GGGG-Father may have been Jack Oakley in Perry County, TN. I know this is very vague but would love to see if I can get any information about her. I just love this story!

Unfortunately, this is not a query that could be effectively traced because you’ve provided no links to known lineages. This appears to simply include family lore going back to unspecified ancestors, with no names or dates to actually narrow these individuals down. The sentence “I believe my GGGG-grandfather may have been Jack Oakley” is also not enough to research.

To be more effective, and to provide a real starting point for research, you’d simply start with the family units that you can verify. You’ll need to include their specific information, like years of birth and death, names of children, where they lived, etc. Usually, this means you’d need to move one or two generations back from the individual that you are trying to research or who represents that “brick wall’ using genealogical parlance.
