My husband’s grandmother, Josie Carpenter Trim was born in or near Broken Bow, Oklahoma. Her father was Joseph Carpenter. The story is that he thought Josie was a special child and deserved a special name so she was only called Baby until she was 5 years old when Joseph died. Then her family named her Josephine. They called her Josie.
