Ancestry Question

July 10, 2022 by Cookie 3 Comments

Who was Jemima? My 5th great grandfather was William Harding (or Hardin) 1750-1803. He married a woman named Jemima. In various places she is referred to as Jemima Cherokee or Jemima Dragging Canoe. She was born in North Carolina in 1759. I would like to know more about who she was. Places she lived were North Carolina, Virginia, and Kentucky.

Too be honest. Jemima is Dragging canoes and u-ga-lo-gv leaf pathkillers daughter. I know because I also descend from them. William “indian bill” Hardin and Jemima are my 5 great grandparents. I have paperwork to back it up.

    Hello,

I think I too descend from these people via Susanna Hardin/Giles. Can you please share your paperwork and information? My grandmother is listed as Jemima Hardin in the 1860 census in Rockcastle, Kentucky and at the time was 100. She was born in North Carolina and her children were born in VA. I cannot verify the William Hardin to whom she was married.
