Description

The Great Smoky Mountains have long been significant to the Cherokee people. Both as a backdrop to our ancient legends and as a hiding place for those Cherokee avoiding removal, these mountains have always been home, in one way or another. This photo was taken at the Oconaluftee Visitor’s Center on the Cherokee, North Carolina entrance to the National Park.
