When I was little, I was told my great grandmother was Cherokee. Her name was Sallie Mae (Strawn) Farabee. Sallie’s parents were William H. Strawn and Civil Seleta (Wiggins) Strawn. William’s parents were Phoebie (Driggers) Strawn and unknown father at this time. Civil’s parents were Jessie Wiggins and Elizabeth (O’Steen) Wiggins. I can go back further on both of Sallie’s parents sides. I was wondering if anyone has any info on this part of the family’s ties with the Cherokee nation. I believe they originated from the Georgia area, but they lived in Florida, in Levy County. If anyone has any additional information, I’d greatly appreciate it.
