“MAY” family Cherokee? Please help!

March 3, 2015 by ashbaby12 2 Comments

I recently came across an application on the Baker Roll, by Mary May Henson. Her father was Joseph Floyd May, whose father was Pryor May. She claims that Henry May and his wife Sookie were the parents of Pryor May and that they were both full blooded Cherokee. Henry would have been born around 1780-1790, Mary May Henson lived in Isabella, Polk, Tennessee. Joseph Floyd May lived in Cherokee NC. He is buried at Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery in Murphy, Cherokee, NC. Does anyone have any information about this family? Please help! Thank you
