Seeking information on my Cherokee blood line. My Great Grandfather on my fathers side, John Dale Morgan was born 10/1849 in Alabama, we have been told that he was 3/4 to 1/2 Cherokee he married first Mary Meyers B: 12/27/1844 in Tenn. we have been told she was 3/4 to 1/2 Creek or Cherokee, second Julia Millsap B: 04/1890 AR. John’s father William we have been told that he was 3/4 to 1/2 Cherokee he was married to a woman named Rhoda (Roda, Rodie) Hawkins who was suppose to be 1/2 Cherokee and 1/2 Afro-American. My father found a John Morgan listed twice on the rolls under the name of each wife, about 10 years apart this confused him so he didn’t pick one and didn’t receive his Indian rights. I am searching for any information on these people. Thank you.
