Query: My friend is trying to locate her genealogy but is new to all this. Her grandmother was Avis Coleman who married John Colvan Turner. They lived in Louisiana. Avis had sisters listed on back of photo as Lena and Lela they both looked quite Native American but Avis was more white appearing. The story goes that their mother was senet away because she perhaps was pregnant. She was a young woman who married - we think Henry Coleman in Louisiana who was a full blooded Cherokee - the 1910 census shows more children and that the mother's name was Bosheby and that she was about 40 years younger than he was. Any help? The 1910 census was from Winn County LA Posted: October, 2008

Query: We are trying to track down any information concerning my husbands geneology that was hand written by his great grandmother. All we know is that the paper states that "a Cherokee Cheif traded his daughter Adeline for horse to a man named Denis" they had three children together - Dick, Pony and Caroline. We are not sure that this is enough information to find anything, but it is all we have to go on. It would be my husband's Great Great Great Grandmother. My husband is currently 25 years old Posted: October, 2008

Query: I am trying to find information on my great grandmother who was full blood Cherokee. Her name was Mary Williams, don't know who her parents were. All I know is my grandmother told me stories, about when she was growing up. She grew up on the river side, in Geneva Alabama, which was then part of the Mississippi. She told me about her dad and the rest of the man going out hunting, and how the white people don't know how to hurt, and don't want to take food from them, so they would wrap it up and sit it out side the door, go hide and throw stones at the door so they would find it, before the animal's did. Any many other stories. I could go on and on. She married Jack Blackmon which was part indian, they had two children, my g mother Maliva Lee, And Hazzel who died at early age. Later She Married James Marshall Olive, they had three children W.M, J.M AND Beatrice. I know that mary is buried in a cemetery in Cottonwood Alabama, so is James, Jack is buried in a cemetery near Campbellton Florida. This is all I know. Can anyone help me found more on Mary?
