Charles Osten Query: My family has been trying to find information concerning the indian tribe my great grandmother came from. The difficulty in doing this centers around the fact that she was adopted by a white family when she was very young. I will give all the information I have, which isn't a great deal. Her adopted name was LIZZIE FOSTER also called NETTIE FOSTER. No birth records can be found for her. Her adopted parents names were JAMES W. FOSTER and wife SARAH E. FOSTER. I don't know when the adoption took place or where, it's belived to be in Okla. She married HENRY WATKINS age 21 on March 25, 1903. She was 18. The marriage too place in Wapello County in Iowa. It's believed that she was Cherokee and was adopted in Okla. I now this isn't much informaton. If someone could give me some advice on how to procede with this i'd appreciate it.

Mary didn't know what the young woman was running from so Mary ran deep into the woods with the baby. The Indian woman ran off in the opposite direction. Mary Mason saw two Indian scout running as fast as they could and going in the direction the young Indian woman had gone. Soon the two Indian scouts came back with the young woman between them. Gailla Moser Query: Hello, I am most curious about the Cherokee in my Eary side of the family, I believe it also used to be spelled Airy. Roan Eary was born in Tennessee but settled in Arkansas. He had at least two marriages, I know one of his wives was full-blooded Cherokee her last name was bell. Roan Eary is my great great grandfather and his daughter Sallie (Sarah) Eary was my great grandmother. I do not know who her mother was and I am unsure that it was Bell. Also, I believe at least one of Roan Eary's parents was Cherokee. Jacob, and Zachariah Eary or Airy were also married to Cherokee I think. There wives only had first names. It would be nice to know exactly how much if any Cherokee is left for me. Helms and Moser's are also my Surnames who may carry Cherokee lineage, however I am unsure where to start there. My grandfathers name was Edward Helms who married Sallie (Sarah) Helms. One last name is Shaffer Walter E Shaffer is my grandfather they settled in Kansas but first lived in Ohio. Thank you very much for any assistance you may be able to offer.
