I understand that I have been told that other Crisp men there in Graham county, also married to Cherokees, and that I have Cherokee blood, also. It would be so great to know that I am part of the Cherokee Nation, for I have great respect for them. I had a friend, Dennis Wolfe, in Cherokee, N. Margie LaCerra Query: I have a friend who adopted a daughter at birth. According to a bio given them at the time of adoption, the biological father had two grandparents that were of Native American Indian descent, Cherokee. In our state the adoption records are sealed and can only be opened in life/death situations. This girl is now preparing for college. She is very intelligent, but not genuis status, and would like to go to a Big Ten School or an Ivy League School, but the money for tuition is a problem. If there is this American Indian bloodline, I've heard that she would be entitled to some government tuition money for college. Do we need to really go about getting a tribal certificate, or is just the bio from the case worker of the paternal family and maybe some genealogical documents to give background enough? Thank you for any assistance.

Robin Stuntz Query: I am trying to find information regarding my grandmother, Hazel Rosetta Holder, born 7-7-1927 in either Lepanto or Lonoke, Arkansas. She died in Batesville, Arkansas, and is buried in the pleasant valley cemetary in independence county Arkansas. She married a mr. Noah O'neal Sisk and had 8 children: erma, joyce, noah, randall, sharon, eric, ramona, and "tootie". She was of cherokee decent, and my grandfather (her husband) was cree and blackfoot. According to family records, she would have been between 7/8 and 5/6 cherokee. However, since our ancestors were discedents, and did not go to the reservations, we do not have any record of my grandmother's birth. She has a marriage and death certificate, but even the most comprehensive searches have yielded no birth certificate. PLEASE HELP!!!

Bob Morehead Query: Looking for information on my great-grandfather, Charles James "Charley" Morehead, born 1877 unknown, died 1966 Sardis, Ohio. Great-Grandpa was half Indian, we were always told Cherokee. The story goes his father or grandfather (Owing to the surname, I suspect it was his maternal grandfather) was one of seven brothers who "refused to go to the reservation." This would appear to refer to the roundup for the "Trail of Tears." The story goes on that this ancestor became intoxicated one night and fell asleep on a railroad track and was run over by a train. I found a notcie of Great-Grandpa's divorce decree of 1905 in Weakley County, Tennessee, so that narrows the geography somewhat. My genealogical research is stymied until I can learn more about Great-grandpa's parents and connections; there were some skeletons in the closet then, it seems, and the family never talked about it. No one currently living knows anything. Without this knowledge, I don't even know where to start looking. Can anyone help?

Her husband was unknown Morris they had5 children Eve (male), Florence, Susan, Caroline Josephine and an unknown boy. Caroline was my ggrandmother she was born in Kansas her father supposedly in Illinois. Anyway Caroline married 3 times 1st husband was unknown Wagner they had 1 daighter Stella May. 2nd husband was James Marrion Hosier (my ggrandfather) they had 3 children Roy, George my grandmother Lela Grace they were all born in Enid, Oklahoma (my aunt said it was Indian territory)? They were never granted birth certificates because of this. Lela was born May 12, 1903. My questions are how can I research this branch since they are Indian and their records would be different. I really want to learn more about my Indian heritage! I have already read quite a bit about the Blackfoot Indians and I must say I am proud to have their blood in my veins! They are a fascinating people! I also read somewhere that the Blackfoot are apart of the Cherokee? Is this true and how so if they are? Can't wait to hear back from you.
