My main line of descent is; Cobb, Fox, Fine, Grubb, Covey, Gordon, Johnson, Gregory. My greatgrandmother Luticia Gregory was a full blood Cherokee according to my father. The fine was of Cherokee descent. The trail is covers New York in the late 1700's; Illinois in the early 1800's to North Carolina until the late 1800's up to Indiana till sometime in the early 1900's and back down to North Carolina where the Fox, Grubb, and Cobb lines are buried, most of the Fine line is buried there also but some are up in Indiana. Any help finding the proof on the Native American bloodline would be greatly appreciated.

He married a lady named Alma (Wooten or Johnson) we call her granny. She and Paul divorced after 8 Jan 1944. He youngest son Marvin Wallace Smith was born on that date. Alma & Paul and the following children that I know of: Joyce married Charles Cobel, John married several times, Jimmy married Deanna from New Orleans in 1968, Marvin married me and we divorced in 1971, he married Eileen ??? I have been told that his daddy may have been of the Cherokee Nation as his granddaddy (name unknown) married or had a Native American wife. I know that most of that particular family stayed in the Sand Mountain area. I do not remember ever hearing any names however. Marvin is dark skinned with dark eyes, he still has black hair and not a hint of grey which I lay to the Native American heritage. Our daughter is also dark skinned with beautiful blue eyes that are so blue they often look black. Lam (Granny) Left Snad Mountain sometime after she was divorced and took a job in a factory "At the bottom of the mountain" until she could get on her feet with her mother taking the children. I met the family in Miami Florida in late 1967 or early 1968. Query: I have been wondering where my husband's surname came from (no one seems to know for sure). His family intermarried with the Cherokee over the years. Amyx may or may not come from the Cherokee. However, I would definitely like to know a few things about his great-grandmother, who had Cherokee blood. All I know is that her name was Stella, and she married Stoke Amyx probably between the years of 1905 and 1915. In her photograph, her Cherokee heritage is obvious. Oh yeah, she had a brother named Henry, and two sisters: Elsie and Eve. My family tree is not complete without more info on Stella. Since they lived in East TN, they probably kept their heritage a secret.

Query: Searching for information on Mary E Riley. Mary (1/16 Cherokee) married William Roberts on 1 Aug 1885. They had 4 children: James T. Roberts, William E. Roberts Jr., Charles A. Roberts & Floyd B. Roberts. In the application for enrollment in the Cherokee tribe he mentions that he had been married to another Cherokee woman. I am searching for the name of that Cherokee women, when and where they were married and the names of their children. My grandmother, Elizabeth Roberts' father was William Roberts born in NC. Since Elizabeth was born in 1965, her mother would probably be the other Cherokee women listed in the application. Any information would be appreciated. Wado

Query: I am looking for any helpful information a great grandmother of mine who was said to have been a full blooded Cherokee. Her name was "Dora Bell Place", the last name was changed earlier at some point and was originally "Treeplace". She married a man by the name of Jon Bishop. I believe she was born in 1896. Her mothers name was Eliza Jones and fathers name Alan Asby Place. I have no social security numbers and I doubt any of the before mentioned had any. If anyone could give me a little insight on how to research further without a social security number I would sure appreciate it. Also, does the Cherokee roll ist names or just a number? If a number, how do you trace the persons name to the number? Thanks for your help friends!
